twenty six on the twenty sixth

We have a very fun tradition in my family. The birthday you turn your birthdate (I was born on the 26th, so the year I turn 26) you get that number of presents. Last Thursday happened to be my turn, and I was very excited to go down to SLC and open my 26 presents from my parents! I have been waiting for a while!  My mom got very creative, and I had a lot of fun opening gifts. My mom also made a very delicious soup & dessert! Thank you, Mom!!

It was fun to see the things my mom came up with, some of which I asked for. Like a bag to wash nylons and stuff in, cleaning gloves, chap stick, etc. She had some good surprises in there too like earrings, socks, dish towels, food tray, sleepers for baby boy, cereal, and hair clips for Abigail! It was the one time I didn't mind the attention being on me :)

My favorite gift is the hat my mom made for Abigail, a better picture found here. I loved it, and Abigail didn't want to leave it on. Luckily it will fit her for a while, and she had better get used to wearing it!

Abigail wasn't really interested in opening the gifts with me, but would sit on my lap and play with the wrapping paper.
Thank you, Mom, for an awesome birthday!! I really enjoyed opening my 26 presents, and everything you did for me. And thank you Dad for putting up with Abigail and me at 5:00 in the morning.

lately

Abigail's favorite toy you might ask? Balls. We have quite a few of them, and they all do a pretty good job entertaining her!
We got a new shower liner, and she really enjoyed playing with the package it came in! I had to laugh at how excited she was!
Flexible, skinny girl. And she loves our pillow shams (is that what they are called?). Anytime they are on the ground, she goes right toward them and lays on them. She'll sit on them and read, and drag them around.
One night Joe decided to drag her around upstairs, and this is the result. She thought it was pretty fun!

visit from the Grandparents

About a week ago my parents took a break from their busy lives and decided to pay us a visit! Abigail was sooo excited to see them. As soon as she saw them, she wanted Grandpa. Right away, no questions asked. Guess he's her buddy :). We played for a little while, then went out to eat at the Elements. One of my new favorite restaurants - yum!! Afterward my mom and I went shopping, and then we headed home for the rest of the day! It was fun to watch how excited Abigail was to play with her grandparents, and how much they love her!

Abigail is very good at knocking things down - including many towers that my mom built. And thanks, Mom, for taking the pictures! Glad someone is good at remembering to document things!

destruction

It seems like every day Abigail is getting bigger, and acting older. She still doesn't talk a lot, but she tries to communicate. She jabbers a lot, particularly when she gets excited, and she'll answer you when you ask a question. Today she discovered something that had giggles pouring out her mouth, over and over. Destruction. She was playing with her alphabet puzzle pieces, and dropped her water bottle on them. This made the pieces pop up, and she thought it was the funniest thing and kept banging her water bottle on the board. All I could do was laugh with her, and try to capture the moment. Ignore the lack of focusing - I was having camera issues :)

fall in January

Where is the snow??? No white Christmas ... no crazy storm traveling home after Christmas. Doesn't seem like January! Our camera's battery died over Christmas, so we're waiting for pictures from family. We had a great time, minus being sick!

The past couple of days we have enjoyed being able to go outside and play at the park. Abigail is a little hesitant around other kids, but loves playing in the wood chips and the steering wheel. As much as I am loving the weather, I do hope that we get snow soon!
